Volunteers in the Triad for one special weekend pull together to help Homeless Veterans at the Triad Veterans Stand-Down. This is not just a special day for homeless veterans it is a special day for the veterans and patriots who volunteer to give back to those who serve this great Nation, in this case, those who have encountered hardships that our society brings to many. Why are they special? They served in the armed forces of the United States of America and for their commitment to protect us we have a duty to respect them in their time of need. You should look at it as simply returning a favor.
The Triad Veterans Stand Down has experienced four successful years of providing aid to these men and women. Each year the Stand-Down provides: food, clean clothing, dental care, first aid, job assistance and many other services so that our homeless Veterans may have an opportunity for assistance while enduring their daily hardships.
Triad Stand Down SIX! This year there are indications that we will have more homeless veterans than any year before, primarily because of the failing economy. Layoffs and small business closings continue at an increase. There are over 150,000 Veterans in the Triad and we know there are at least 300 homeless Veterans or Veteran families that are living day to day thinking of where their next meal will come from.
A popular President from the past was Calvin Coolidge, the 30th President. He once said "A Nation that forgets its defenders will itself be forgotten." The Veterans and the Patriots in the Triad will make certain these brave men and women receive our gratitude. Please volunteer to help us out or make a donation to support this worthy effort.
Thank You
From the Staff of The Triad Veterans Stand Down
